Tanzania: Passports, Visas and Health
You should have a passport valid for at least six months.
Visa: EU, CH, UK and USA citizens can buy a tourist visa on arrival at the airports of Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam, and Zanzibar and at Namanga land border post, at the current cost 50 US dollars.
You can also apply for your visa online at https://eservices.immigration.go.tz/visa/. Fill the form and you will get a response within 2 to 5 days. Print the pdf and Bring it with you.
No vaccination is required for those arriving from Europe although official recommendations suggest an anti-malaria prophylaxis as a precautionary measure.
A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required only for travellers who stay longer than 12 hours in a country at potential risk, and is not required for those who have only a stopover of a few hours for connecting flights in an African airport.
We recommend that all travellers to Tanzania follow standard hygiene rules: wash your hands frequently and drink only bottled water.
Most lodges offer western standards of cleanliness.
We suggest you consult your family doctor before departure.
